{I LOVE MODGE PODGE & PT CONF.}

Last night, in my mad rush to tie up loose ends in the house before Thursday, i modge podged a neat little project Ive been working on for a little while. I'm pretty dang proud of myself! It uses some scrapbook paper and a board with holes in it. Ultimately it'll hold some/most of my scrapbooking supplies. And it did result in a trip to IKEA all by myself (FUN FUN!). I have some great plans to get better organized in the sewing/reenactment room. I was hoping to get them all done within a week or so but it just hasn't worked out that way, but it will give me something to do through the spring.
I don't think people fully understand just how hard it is to live in such a small place with a family. We have to be super creative with the space we do have and we just have to make the best with what we have for now. I see people with 1200+ sq ft homes and dream of what i could do with those spaces!lol It would be such a luxury to have space to live in and not feel like we are on top of each other.
Pictures will be coming soon!

Part of that organization has been to work on getting Kreg's WWII Reenactment supplies all in one location and neatly put away. Verses just laying on the floor and stuffed here and there. His guns, his helmet, his uniforms, his blankets, food and glass bottles, WWII radio, ammo, ruck sack, cot, and TONS of other crap, er, i mean "stuff".lol
He was given this really neat foot locker/trunk type thing and luckily most everything he had out fits inside it. There are a few things that wont fit, but that's OK, the point is that the majority is put away in a safe and protected place. Its really helped relieve a HUGE burden on me to have it cleaned up.

Also as part of being better organized in that room i tossed out a HUGE garbage sack of cloth diapers. They are the "project" that's been waiting for me to do, but in order to do it i need time, time that i don't have. So i just chucked it. It feels good not to have that lingering over my head. The practical and frugal side of me panicked a little because those items were useful to some extent, but ultimately, its just better to get rid of it and move on.
I also examined my "fabric situation" as i so lovingly call it.lol I have more fabric than one person really needs. Fabric that's really hard to come by, fabric that i had MAJOR plans for, fabric that was specially milled, fabric that costs alot of $$$$$$, fabric that's full of organic softness, and fabric that i worked really hard to get. But, i no longer have a true need for it now that my business is closing. So i'll slowly be selling most of it off. I am a little sad to do it, but there's really no point in me having it. Plus, it'll open up a TON of free space!lol

In other news, Klaire had her parent teacher conference yesterday. My girl is doing awesome! Shes right on track for everything. We couldn't be prouder of her! She has really matured thus far and has learned alot. She is still plugging away with reading and her math is coming along beautifully!
There was a lot of standardized testing done and on one particular section she scored extremely high which was impressive to her teacher. But, i have to admit, i don't really like those standardized tests. Yes, they serve a purpose for the principal, but really, i don't need a test to tell me what my kid knows, and i feel like they lump the kids into groups.
I feel that each child learns so differently and their brains work differently then a one size fits all standard.

A child's brain *WILL* learn and retain, it may be at its own pace, but it *WILL* learn! There's no point in force feeding facts and equations into a child's brain if its developmentally not ready for it. Just give it time and these things will come.
Anyways, that's my small rant for the day.
And honestly, i didn't say anything in the meeting and the teacher pretty much echoed my same feelings. So it was good to hear that im not the only who feels that way.

Overall Klaire is doing wonderfully and we are incredibly happy about that! We hope that this is a good start to her education.

Theres really not alot more going on in these parts, just life mainly. I have a TON of pictures to post. Ive debated about making them private though, i don't know. But nonetheless, i have TONS to post and will work hard while im on bed rest to get them posted!
